The processing of animal waste (cattle, poultry and fish) usually is a source of mal odour. The air to be treated in these applications can be divided into three categories: air environment (low concentration of pollutants), air coming from hoods placed above the material being processed (average pollutant concentration), steam coming from the storage tanks (high pollutant content of air ). The medium and low air pollutant content is normally treated in a chemical scrubber and biofilter, while the air at high contents of pollutants can be diluted with previous outflows and treated by thermal oxidation systems.
