The bioscrubber biological system is represented by a combination of a water adsorption column and a biological wastewater treatment plant for purification of the waste water.
Pollutants are transferred from air to water in the absorption column, the column is generally filled with plastic mass transfer packing of high specific surface area. The washing solution charged with pollutants is sent to a biological wastewater purification plant. In its standard configuration the water once purified is returned back to the absorber.
Interesting these systems can be used as a pre-treatment of air pollutants in the air deodorization in wastewater purification plants as the purified water can be used as a liquid for absorption.
